It’s Día de la Banderita Time! Queen Letizia and Queen Sofia Get Into Spirit For Red Cross Day

As they do each year, Queen Letizia and Queen Sofia today took part in the Día de la Banderita, Day of the Banderita, to raise funds for the Spanish Red Cross.

The Queens manned tables in the Peurta del Sol outside the Red Cross headquarters in Madrid, as members of the public made donations. Queen Letizia happily posed for photos with a group of bikers who support the event each year. She was also quick to accept a brief cuddle from a baby girl, though the infant was not too pleased about the situation.

Donations collected during ‘Banderita’ make up a large portion of the Red Cross’s income for charitable projects; this year’s theme of the day was ‘Numbers that help end inequality’ to help children and their families.
