Gold for the Netherlands! Willem-Alexander and Máxima Congratulate Olympic Champion

  August 14, 2016 at 6:13 pm by

King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and their three daughters – Princesses Catharina-Amalia, Alexia and Ariane – were on hand today in Rio to congratulate Dutchman Dorian van Rijsselberghe following his gold medal win in the RS:X sailing competition.

The family welcomed van Rijsselberghe on to the yacht they were watching the race from afterwards, giving him congratulatory hugs.

The previous evening, the King and Queen attended the final evening of the swimming competition, watching the women’s 50m freestyle, men’s 1500m freestyle, and men’s and women’s 100m medley relays (unfortunately, no Dutch medals were won in the pool).
