Day six of the Rio Olympic Games saw Princess Anne being part of history as she presented the Fijian men’s rugby sevens team with their gold medal after the gold medal match of the event – the first Olympic medal ever won by the tiny island nation.

As the Fijians received their medals, they each knelt before Princess Anne and clapped three times after she hung the medal around their neck – a traditional act of respect, which Anne returned, clapping thrice as well for each player. The Princess, a member of the IOC, also presented Great Britain with their silver medals during the ceremony.

Luxembourg’s Grand Duke Henri was in attendance at the men’s tennis match between his countryman Gilles Muller and Roberto Bautista Agut from Spain, although Muller was defeated in straight sets. Photos available here.
