William, Kate and Harry Send TeamGB Good Luck As Princess Anne Attends Reception in Rio
A video of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry sending their support to TeamGB’s athletes in Rio has been released this morning.
“We have some of the most passionate supporters in the world, and can’t wait to cheer on our athletes together this time in Rio,” Prince William says, while Harry calls the British athletes an “inspiration to us all” and encourages TeamGB to “top 2012”. Kate said that they all couldn’t “wait to watch everyone compete.”
Meanwhile, Princess Anne – who is an International Olympic Committee member and Honorary President of the British Olympic Association – attended the TeamGB reception in Rio last night, where Andy Murray was announced as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony.
Chaos thus ensued when Andy, Anne and other athletes posed for a group photo – the tennis champion had some trouble following the many directions thrown at him on how to hold the flag for the photo. Princess Anne – a seasoned pro at these types of photos – was quick to lend a hand with directions, but not after laughing and pulling a face at the confusion (though even she looked a bit puzzled at one point at some of the requests).
