The Duchess of Cornwall had a second engagement today, which involved a visit to St James Park in London with the daughter of writer Roald Dahl to veil her BFG Dream Jar as part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of Dahl’s birth.

Camilla and Lucy Dahl happily posed under umbrellas next to the Duchess’s Dream Jar, which contains sculptures of five children learning to read showing Camilla’s dream that “every child learns to read, and discovers the life-long pleasure of books.”

50 Dream Jars by famous Brits will be going on display around major UK cities this month, to later be auctioned off to raise money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and Save the Children. The jars take inspiration from The BFG.

Children who have benefited from the charity also were present for the unveiling, spending time chatting with Camilla, who is patron of Roald Dahl 100.
