After Liberia and Morocco, US First Lady Michelle Obama moved on to Spain today, where she and Queen Letizia attended a presentation on the ‘Let Girls Learn’ initiative Mrs Obama has put together to help girls worldwide receive the education they deserve.

The two women both spoke at the presentation, with Queen Letizia saying that it is “clear that the education of girls transforms, protects, is productive and is inextricably linked to social justice and democracy, family welfare, promoting equality, better health and nutrition.”

She praised Mrs Obama for “her inspiring words and her commitment to expressing something that is, and should be, for all, a priority need. Education.”

Afterwards the Queen, wearing a lovely red sleeveless sheath dress from Nina Ricca, and Mrs Obama, in a white v-neck sundress (with a cape!) from the Spanish label Delpozo, had a meeting at the Royal Couple’s private residence within Zarzuela Palace.
