Princess Laurentien Turns 50

Born on May 25, 1966 as Petra Laurentien Brinkhorst and now known as Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands celebrates her 50th birthday today.
Her parents are the former Dutch minister of Economic Affairs, Laurens Jan Brinkhorst and Jantien Brinkhorst-Heringa and she has one brother. She went to school in The Netherlands, then her family moved to Tokyo where she graduated from the Lycée français. Her family moved to Tokyo when her father became the Permanent Envoy of the European Union. Princess Laurentien holds a masters degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a Master of Journalism.

On December 16, 2000 it was announced that Prince Constantijn and Laurentien Brinkhorst were engaged. The civil marriage took place in the Hague, on May 17, 2001. The religious wedding took place two days later on May 19. Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien have three children.

Laurentien’s full title and style is: Her Royal Highness Princess Petra Laurentien of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau, Mrs. van Amsberg.
