Flashback Friday: Scout’s Honour
May 27, 1938: Denmark’s Crown Princess Ingrid attends a scouting exhibition in Copenhagen.
She was a keen enthusiast of guides and scouts, working her way up the ranks of the Guides organisation in her home country, Sweden, as a young girl. When she married the heir to the Danish throne in 1935, Ingrid continued her interest in Denmark, becoming the President of Pigespejdernes Fællesråd Danmark (the Joint Committee of Girl Guides Denmark) in 1939.
Ingrid’s love of scouting was passed on to her middle daughter, Princess Benedikte.
