Death of Prince Luitpold of Liechtenstein

Prince Luitpold of Liechtenstein has died in Judenburg in the Steiermark, Austria on May 11th at the age of 77. His funeral will be held at the parish church of Saint Nicholas in Judenburg on May the 21st.

The prince was born in 1940 in Würzburg to Prince Aloys of Liechtenstein and his wife countess Hertha Maria Wolfskeen von Reichenberg. In 1969 he married countess Ursula of Habsburg, granddaughter of Archdue Heinrich of Austria-Tuscany and great-granddaughter of Grand Duke Ferdinand IV of Tuscany. Together they had two sons: Prince Friedrich, who died a few days after his birth in 1970 and Prince Carl who was born in 1978. The prince divorced his wife in 1997. A year later he married Edith Pelchen. he descended for the 10th child of Fürst Johann I of Liechtenstein (1760-1836).

In 1999 he donated 5000 square meters to start the Simultania Liechtenstein art association of Judenburg. The family has requested attendees of the funeral to send donations for the ‘Simultania Liechtenstein art association in Judenburg instead of flowers.
