Princess Irene of The Netherlands sold her villa Marienhoeve in Wijk bij Duurstede. The house was only for sale for a few months. The princess wanted to live closer to her children and grand children and has moved to Wassenaar near The Hague. Her daughter Margarita lives in the same town while her eldest son, the duke of Parma, lives in The Hague.

The asking price for the villa was €2 million. The princess bought the place in 1990 for an unknown sum but the house is free of mortgage.  The house is 465 square meters, has 12 rooms and an outside swimming pool. The Princess still owns a canal house in Utrecht and has properties in South Africa.
