Te Deum and Congratulations For Prince Oscar
The birth of prince Oscar has lead to a stream of congratulations for his parents and his big sister. In the afternoon there was a gun salute of 21 canon shots in Stockholm. The royal family went to a Te Deum, a service of thanksgiving.
The Crown Princess and her newborn son were absent from the service, but most other adult members of the royal family attedend the event. Also present was Princess Estelle, who was dressed in a pink coat that was worn by her aunt Madeleine in the 80-ties. The little princess was seated between her father and her uncle Carl Philip.
The royal family also issued a press release which showed the reactions of the family members to Oscar’s birth. The king and queen, prince Carl Philip, princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine, Christopher O’Neill, Olof, Ewa and Anna Westling were all happy for the crown princely couple.
Crown Princess Mary also said that she was very happy for Victoria and Daniel. During a meeting with the press in Qatar the Danish Crown Princess said she already personally congratulated her Swedish counterparts.
