Spanish State Visit To Britain Possibly Cancelled Due To Political Deadlock

Bad news for those who have been looking forward to the state visit of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain to the United Kingdom, planned for 8-10 March. Due to the post-election deadlock in Spanish politics, the Spanish government is seriously considering a cancellation of the visit.

Last week the socialist party PSOE already expressed their dissatifaction about the bad timing of the visit. They expect that the king will still be needed in Madrid in March to play his part in the slow post-election negociations between various parties.

These last days King Felipe VI received various politicians and officials at Zarzuela Palace while the formation process is in its third week.
