Princess Marie of Denmark Turns 40

Princess Marie of Denmark turns 40 today.

Born on February 6, 1976 as Marie Agathe Odile Cavalier is now known as Princess Marie of Denmark and Countess of Monpezat.

Marie Cavallier was born in Paris, France. She is the only child to her parents, Alain Cavallier and Françoise Grassiot. Marie moved to Geneva, Switzerland with her mother after her parents divorced. She has four step brothers.

Marie Cavallier met her husband to be Prince Joachim of Denmark in 2005. In October 2007 they announced their engagement and married in November 2008. They have two children together, Prince Henrik born on May 4, 2009 and Princess Athena January 24, 2012. Princess Marie is Prince Joachim’s second wife.
