Tunisian President on State Visit to Sweden
The President of Tunisia, Mr Beji Caïd Essebsi, is currently on a state visit to Sweden. He and his wife, Saida Caïd Essebsi, were welcomed at Arlanda Airport by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel ahead of the official welcoming ceremony and luncheon at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
King Carl XVI Gustaf hosted a state banquet this evening, where guests dined on smoked trout, baked cod with shrimp sauce and dill potato puree and roasted reindeer with mushrooms and cabbage. In his speech, King Carl Gustaf spoke of the awarding of this year’s Noble Peace Prize to the Tunisian National Quartet, which has “brought attention to the Tunisian people’s peaceful aspirations for democracy”.
The visit continues tomorrow with business meetings and a meeting between the President and the Swedish Prime Minister.
