Felipe and Letizia Visit Colombres As Part of the Princess of Asturias Award 2015 – Day 3

Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited the town Colombres as part of the 2015 Princess of Asturias Awards. The town won this years award of Exemplary Town of Asturias.

King Felipe started his visit by giving a speech, he said “Colombres offers the world a lesson in beauty, solidarity and shared work. Your history can not be understood without the solidarity character you have. We carried promote ideas that favor economic development and the links between you and migrants. You are an exemplary village to recognize and admire.”

During the visit, the royal couple toured the town and visited various places. The King and Queen took time to speak to local who gathered up to meet them and posed for pictures. The royals also stopped by the City Hall, where they got to sign the guestbook. They also visited the headquarters of the Indianos Archive Foundation, the Museum of Emigration. Spain’s King and Queen attended a traditional lunch which was held at the sports center.
