Spain Celebrates National Day
The King of Spain led the country in National Day celebrations today at the official ceremony at the Plaza de Cánovas del Castillo in Madrid.
King Felipe, Queen Letizia, the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía were all present for the homage to the Spanish flag, the first event of National Day, alongside Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and other officials linked to Madrid and the military.
The Royal Family then attended the military parade between the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V and the Plaza de Colón. Over 3,400 members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Civil Guard and Royal Guard took part in the parade.
Queen Letizia kept it simple in a navy blue dress and matching blazer, while the two Infantas wore dresses and cardigans in navy blue and grey tones.
In the afternoon, the King and Queen hosted a reception for 2,000 guests from all branches of Spanish society at the Royal Palace.Filed under Spanish Royals
