Queen Maxima Attends The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Opening Season

The evening of September 10, Her Majesty Queen Maxima was present at the grand opening of the new season of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.
Upon her arrival to the theater, The Queen was welcomed by Kajsa Ollongren, deputy Mayor and alderman of Art and Culture of Amsterdam. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra opening night is a festive concert that takes place every year to mark the launch of the new season. The first concert of the season was led by the chief conductor designated Daniele Gatti who led the orchestra in the execution of two suites from the Russian ballet repertoire: Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and The Firebird by Stravinsky.
Present at the concert was the master cellist Yo-Yo Ma. He returned to the Concertgebouw Orchestra after twenty years. He performed the Shostakovich’s First Cello Concerto.

Queen Maxima is patron of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
