The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were welcomed by stormy weather when they headed to Portsmouth today to attend the America’s Cup World Series sailing competition. Due to the rain, however, the day’s sailing was cancelled.

Nonetheless, William and Kate still meet with organisers and the team captains of the countries competing in this leg at the Royal Navy Base Portsmouth. The couple – in matched BAR hoodies emblazoned with their names on the back – also visited the newly opened headquarters of Land Rover BAR, and were shown around by team owner and captain Sir Ben Ainslie.

Kate tried out a sailing simulator, while William was shown the Land Rover BAR training yacht.

To end the day, the pair presented medals to the leg’s winning team (Land Rover BAR).
