Princess Anne Reopens Lincoln Castle
The Princess Royal today reopened Lincoln Castle in Lincolnshire and viewed their exhibition on the Magna Carta.
A crowd of around 2,500 were invited to attend the event, where the Princess unveiled a plaque to commemorate the reopening in the castle’s East Wing. Princess Anne then was shown around the castle walls – which had been restored meaning the public can now access more of the castle than before – and toured part of the Victoria Prison. Many of the individuals who worked on the restoration spoke with Anne as she toured the castle.
Princess Anne, in a deep purple coat, also visited the Magna Carta vault, which exhibits one of the four surviving original Magna Carta documents.
Lincoln Castle has received a £22million refurbishment that took over a decade to complete.
