Earlier today, the King of the Netherlands returned to his old primary school, the Nieuwe Baarnsche School, to open a new building.

Arriving at the school in Baarn, King  Willem-Alexander was greeted by a number of the school’s pupils and staff. During the official opening, the King helped three students plant a tree outside the new building, which provides the school with a much larger facility than its previous location.

The Nieuwe Baarnsche School is different from other specialty schools in the Netherlands, as it does not follow one specific religion. It allows “equality of all religious and social trends” for its students, to help them build a life in which they can be “stakeholders with respect and understanding of life and society.”
