Prince Charles Visits Poundbury

  May 8, 2015 at 9:28 pm by

Today, the Prince of Wales paid a visit to Poundbury, a town built on Duchy of Cornwall land in Dorset in accordance with his own views on town planning and urban regeneration.

During his visit, Prince Charles opened the town’s new Cancer Institute. The Prince toured the facility and met with staff. He also presented the keys to the 250th home built in Poundbury to its new owners, Nathan and Sarah Dunford.

The Prince told members of the crowd that his new granddaughter, Princess Charlotte, was “beautiful” and that he had been “hoping for a granddaughter – someone to look after me when I am very old.” His joy was clearly visible, as a smile never left his face.

The BBC described the development of Poundbury as “aiming to combine social and private housing with work and leisure facilities to create a “walkable community”.
