King Juan Carlos I’s Last Official Act

His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Sofia hosted a Luncheon for members of the Spanish Government yesterday at the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid. This luncheon marked the last Official act by Their Majesties as King & Queen of Spain.

Attending yesterdays luncheon were the Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, President of the Senate Pio Garcia Escudero, President of the Constitutional Court, Francisco Pérez de los Cobos and President of the Supreme Court and the General Council of the Judiciary, Carlos Lesmes. Looking relaxed, Their Majesties later posed with members of the government for a series of photos. It was announced that following the Abdication, King Juan Carlos & Queen Sofia will retain their title of King & Queen and will continue to be addressed as Majesties.

    King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia will continue to be loved here in Romania, even after Their abdication, and so will the new King and Queen of Spain.
