Princess Birgitta of Sweden’s 77th Birthday

Princess Birgitta of Sweden celebrated her birthday on January 19.

Princess Birgitta was born on 19 January 1937 at Haga Palace in Stockholm, Sweden. Her parents are Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. She has four siblings; Princess Margaretha, Princess Désirée, Princess Christina and King Carl XVI Gustaf.

In 1959, Princess Birgitta met her future husband Prince Johann Georg of Hohenzollern at a friend’s cocktail party. Their engagement was announced on 15 December 1960 and their civil wedding took place on 25 May 1961 at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

The couple have three children; Prince Carl Christian (who is married to Nicole Neschitsch and has a son, Prince Nicolas), Princess Désirée (who is married to Hereditary Count Heinrich of Ortenburg and has three children; Count Carl-Theodor, Count Frederik and Countess Christina) and Prince Hubertus (who is married to Uta Maria König and has two children; Prince Lennart and Princess Vivianne).
