Princess Claire of Belgium Turns 40

Princess Claire of Belgium celebrated her 40th birthday on January 18th. The Princess who is the wife of Belgian Prince Laurent was born Claire Louise Coombs in Bath, England on the 18th of January 1974. Her parents later resettled near Brussels in Belgium. Claire’s mother is infact Belgian. Claire has an older sister Joanna and a younger brother Matthew.

In April 2003, Claire married Prince Laurent of Belgium, the second son and youngest child of the then King Albert II & Queen Paola of Belgium at the Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula in Brussels. Shortly before the ceremony, King Albert II created Claire a Princess of Belgium in her own right and styled her ‘Her Royal Highness, Princess Claire of Belgium’.

Princess Claire and Prince Laurent have three children: Princess Louise, born 2004, and twin boys Prince Nicolas and Prince Aymeric, born in 2005. The Princess has no official role but does attend most important Belgian Royal court events. Princess Claire has dual nationality, both Belgian and British.
