James, Viscount Severn was born on 17 December 2007 at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, England. He is the only son and youngest child of The Earl and Countess of Wessex. He has an elder sister, Lady Louise, who was born on 8 November 2003.
In 2008, he was admitted to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital as he had a minor allergic reaction.
He was christened on 19 April 2008 in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle by Bishop David Conner, The Dean of Windsor. He is the first ever royal baby to wear the replica of the Honiton lace christening gown. The original was first worn by the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria, “Vicky” in 1840 (other royal babies who were born after James have worn the same gown [most recently Maud Windsor], and the original is currently being preserved).
His godparents are Denise Poulton, Jeanye Irwin, Alastair Bruce, 5th Baron Aberdare, Duncan Bullivant and Tom Hill.
