Prince and Princess of Asturias Visit the USA

The Prince and Princess of Asturias have completed an official visit to California and Florida.

The visit’s aim was to promote the economic, political and cultural relationships between the Kingdom of Spain and the United States of America. The royal couple departed the Barajas Airport in Madrid on November 13th, and later arrived in California.

The first visit by the Prince and Princess was to the historic Mission San Carlos Borroméo del Río Carmelo, which was founded by the Spanish Franciscan friar, Junípero Serra, in 1770. The following morning, Prince Felipe attended a working breakfast at the Sheraton Hotel in Palo Alto, later the Prince and Princess visited several companies in the city.

Day 2 also included a visit to Stanford University and they also attended a reception at the private residence of the US Ambassador to Spain. This reception was also attended by Princess Theodora of Greece and Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, among others.

Day 3 started in Los Angeles with a breakfast meeting with the Mayor of Los Angeles and later a visit to the Los Angeles Times headquarters. The Prince and Princess attended a dinner hosted by the Spain-US Council Forum in Santa Barbara that evening.

The following day was the last day in California for the Prince and Princess and they attended a dinner at Huntington Library in San Marino. On November 17th, the pair moved on to Florida, where they attended the the Miami Book Fair International 2013 inaugural event in Miami.
