The funeral of Prince Friso, second son of Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, will be taking place this afternoon, Dutch time.

A private family funeral, which will be led by Reverend C.A. ter Linden, will be held at the Stulpkerk in Lage Vuursche, which is in the Baarn municipality and adjacent to Drakensteyn Castle, where the Prince grew up and where Princess Beatrix will be living in her retirement from later this year. Prince Friso will be buried in the church’s cemetery.

The Royal Court will not be releasing a list of those who will attend, however, King Harald of Norway, the late Prince’s godfather, has confirmed his attendance.

According to the RVD, a public memorial service for the Prince will be held later this year.

Prince Friso passed away on Monday August 12th, following complications stemming from his skiing accident in February 2012.
