The future Queen of Sweden was born at the Karolinska University Hospital in Solna, Stockholm in 1977 as the eldest child and daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. The Princess was christened Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée at the Royal Palace Church on 27 September 1977.

The birth of her brother, Prince Carl Philip, in May 1979 temporarily displaced Victoria in the line of succession to second place, that is until a parliamentary change to the Swedish Act of Succession introduced absolute primogeniture in 1980. Following this Princess Victoria was created Crown Princess of Sweden and Duchess of Västergötland.

In June 2010, Crown Princess Victoria married Daniel Westling at a glittering ceremony in Stockholm; the couple currently have a daughter, Princess Estelle, who was born in February 2012.

This is a severe misunderstanding of the Act of Succession, that was issued by the Swedish Parlament in 1810. Under this Act only males had succession right to the Swedish throne. Our higly respected Crown Princess, Her Royal Higness Crown Princess Victore, Crown Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Västergötland, was not in the line of succession before 1 January 1980, when the changes in the Act of Succession became effective.

From the succession of our present, highly beloved, King, His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden, Duke of Jämtland, in 1973, next in line to the throne was his uncle, His Royal Higness Prince Bertil, Prince of Sweden, Duke of Halland. The Duke of Halland became second in line upon the birth of His Royal Highness Prince Carl Filip, Prince of Sweden (until 31 Dac 1979 Crown Prince of Sweden), Duke of Värmland in 1979.
