Willem-Alexander & Máxima Host Heirs in Apeldoorn
The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima were the hosts of the heirs to the thrones of Europe this past weekend, at Castle ‘t Oude Loo in Apeldoorn. The weekend is likely to be the final time all the couples are together as counterparts, as the Prince Willem-Alexander will become monarch on April 30.
Present were Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde of Belgium, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, the Prince and Princess of Asturias and Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden. Danish Crown Prince Frederik was absent as he was competing in the Vasaloppet in Sweden, while no reason was given for the absence of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
To mark the visit, a group photograph was released by the Dutch Royal Court. It is expected that most of the present party will be returning to the Netherlands at the end of April for the Prince of Orange’s inauguration.
