Dutch Official Visit To Brazil – Days Three and Four

The third day of the official visit to Brazil started with a separate agenda for the Crown Prince Couple.

In the morning, the Prince went to the “Waste to Waste” exhibition about waste management, where he signed an agreement on cooperation between the NL Agency and the Environment Agency of the State of São Paulo. Then the Prince went to the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp) to attend a Brazilian-Dutch Science and Technology seminar entitled ‘Biobased Economy’. In his speech, the Crown Prince said, “Brazil is the sixth largest economy in the world and is still growing. Together we have a huge potential”.

At the Federation the Prince of Orange was awarded with the Grand Cross of Merit for his commitment to the industry. He also participated in signing agreements with institutions and universities for research and development in biotechnology. After the seminar, the Prince held a lunch meeting with representatives of Brazilian Industry.

In the meantime Princess Maxima, with the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen, visited the city of Piracicaba where the Crown Princess inaugurated “Paques Brasil”.  Paques Brasil is a Dutch organization active worldwide in the field of water and gas purification systems.

In the afternoon, after a meeting with the Governor of Sao Paulo, the Crown Prince Couple were at the FAAP Museu de Arte Brasileira to open the exhibition ”Connecting Concepts”’ which is an exhibition of Dutch and Brazilian designers. The Royal Couple also opened the office of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) in Sao Paulo. The last event of day three, the Prince and the Princess attended a network reception for Dutch and Brazilian businesses at the Jockey Club in Sao Paulo.

On November 22, the fourth day of the visit, the Crown Prince Couple were in Rio de Janeiro. The Prince of Orange and the Princess had a lunch meeting with the Governor and the Mayor of Rio. They also attended the presentation of the tulip park chairs in the colours of the Brazilian flag. Later, the Royal Couple visited the Maracana soccer stadium, which is prepared for FIFA World Cup 2014 and 2016 Olympics. They attended a seminar seminar ‘Stage Management: Crowd Control & Public Safety and Efficient Solutions”. The Prince also had time to play football with the Dutch football player Clarence Seedorf and Brazilian children. In the evening the Crown Prince Couple was present at a network reception for Dutch and Brazilian businesses at Museum Historico Nacional in Rio.
