Rumors have been circling since the engagement announcement of Andrea Casiraghi and Tatiana Santo Domingo, but Tatiana has now confirmed that she is pregnant with the couples first child. The baby is due to be born in January 2013 and will be the first grandchild for the Princess of Hanover, Hereditary Princess Caroline of Monaco.

Any child born to Prince Albert II and his wife, Princess Charlene, will take the place of Hereditary Princess Caroline. However, if the Princely Couple do not have children, the baby Andrea and Tatiana are expecting will be third-in-line to the throne of Monaco, preceded only by the father-to-be and the Hereditary Princess, providing the couple marries. If it’s a girl she could be replaced by a younger brother if no changes to the law will be made. Following Monaco law, it is irrelevant as to when the couple marries, before or after the birth. Tatiana told journalists that the wedding is to take place after the birth.

Andrea is the oldest child of Princess Caroline and her second husband, the late Stefano Casiraghi. Andrea has a younger sister, Charlotte, a younger brother, Pierre, and a younger half-sister from his mothers marriage to the Prince of Hanover, Princess Alexandra of Hanover. The third marriage of his mother also gave him two stepbrothers  Hereditary Prince Ernst August and Prince Christian of Hanover.

Tatiana was born on 24 November 1983 as the daughter of the late Julio Santo Domingo and Vera Rechulski. She has a younger brother, Julio.

The couple started dating 7 years ago and their engagement was announced in July 2012.

If Andrea and Tatiana don’t marry until AFTER their child is born will it become third in line at that point?

  2. Father Andrew L. J. James, Ph.D. says:

God help me, I think I have become a prude in my old age! I am a descendant of three of the 9 bastards of King James, V, of Scotland, and one of James IV, Charles Martel was a bastard, etc., etc., but I still believe it would be well for the parents of a royal child to be legitimate. Look at the consequences: Camilla Bowles, the wife of the Prince of Wales, is descended from a bastard of Edward VII. Is she famous for that? No. It’s because she was an adultress. We’ve come to a pretty pass.

  3. Evelyn Pelosi says:

No doubt the future wife of Andrea Casiraghi will walk down the aisle of the Cathedral on the arms of her father in white, which when I was a bride displayed to those assembled there, that one was chaste.

The Royal Families of Europe and the people of Monaco should refuse to take part in this pantomine.

  4. Rob says:

Evelyn : if you read the story, Tatiana will not be walking down the aisle…on the arm of her father, as he is deceased.
Father Andrew : Camilla is not descended from a b– of Edward VII, but from one of his mistresses.

Dear Princess Robijn, I d be happy if that “The romours regarding…” things would have been omitted. Thats usually the spice thing added by tabloids, not classy members like you of TRF. I wish that was a more stright reporting..Just my thoughts..no offence..

  6. Natalie says:

Yet another illegitimate child for Monaco? Well, I guess we have to accept the fact that we’re stuck in the 21st century.. *shakes my head* I know other royal houses have illegitimate children such as Luxembourg, etc. However this is really a huge disappointment.

How disappointing this is…does anyone in the Monaco Royal Family believe in legitimate children????? How about Andre marrying Tatiana BEFORE the baby is born? While a baby is certainly a miracle why not legitimize the child by wedlock? Morals seem to be VERY loose..certainly Royals are not held to any higher standard in Monaco!

  9. zocurious says:

This article is not correct. The child will assume the third place in the line of succession upon his or her parents’ marriage regardless of whether the child’s granduncle and grandaunt produce any children. Should the said granduncle and grandaunt have children, the child will be moved down the line, but that’s irrelevant at present.

Now, why are you all screaming about the child being illegitimate? It will be legitimated once his or her parents marry and will henceforth be as legitimate as any other under Monegasque law. Anyway, I too hope Santo Domingo will not wear white; that would be just hillariously pointless and absurd.

  10. Tomas says:

Interesting Prince Andreas was so keen to wed lovely exiled illegitimate Lavina who unfortunately was already married!

  11. Kellimorgan says:

Have they had the baby yer?
