The Queen of Spain Turns 74

Her Majesty the Queen of Spain celebrated her 74th birthday on November 2nd.

The ever-popular Queen Sofia was born a Princess of Greece in 1938, the eldest child of the late King Paul of Greece and Queen Frederika. The then-Princess Sophia of Greece has two younger siblings, ex-King King Constantine II of Greece and Princess Irene of Greece.

The future Queen Consort of Spain married Infante Juan Carlos of Spain in May 1962 in a lavish ceremony in her native Athens. In 1975, Juan Carlos acceded to the throne as King of Spain with Sofia as his Queen Consort.
