Frederik & Mary visit the US – Day 4
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary’s official visit to the United States continued yesterday, when the pair attended the topping-out ceremony of the new Vestas Wind Systems manufacturing plant in Brighton, Colorado.
The Crown Prince and Princess were joined by Colorado’s Governor, Bill Ritter, and Vestas’ President, Ole Borup Jakobsen, for the event; where each of the four VIPs turned some dirt on the site of the new plants. Laughter ensued when a portion of Princess Mary’s dirt was blown back by the wind.
Frederik said that recovering from the current economic crisis and expanding renewable energy sources did not have to be seperate issues. He told journalists that, “Denmark is economically competitive not in spite of these efforts, but because of them.”
Today, the Crown Prince attended a sports conference in Denver; while the Crown Princess took part in a private program.
