Infanta Elena Attends Opening of Rio Football Academy

Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena of Spain travelled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to attend the opening ceremony of a new football academy in the suburb of Alemao.

The Academy is situated at the Olympic Village Complex Alemao and was launched by Rio de Janeiro City Council and the FC Barcelona Foundation. The $1.5-million dollar football academy’s main aim is to train children in the Complexo do Alemao community.

Infanta Elena, Duchess of Lugo was there in her capacity as the regional director of the Social Action MAPFRE Foundation. Also present was the Brazilian former footballer, Juliano Belletti, and the director of FC Barcelona Foundation, Josep Cortada.
