Felipe & Letizia’s Official Visit to Portugal, Day One
May 30th, 2012 – Lisbon, Portugal
Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Asturias started a three-day official visit to the Portuguese Republic on Wednesday May 30th. Upon their arrival in Lisbon, the Prince and Princess were greeted by the Spanish Ambassador to Portugal and the Portuguese Foreign Minister.
After a warm welcome, Their Royal Highnesses moved onto the historic Jeronimos Monastery where Prince Felipe laid a wreath on the tomb of the Portuguese poet Luís Vaz de Camões.
Following this, the Prince and Princess went onto the Palace of Belém where they were received by the President of the Portuguese Republic, Aníbal António Cavaco Silva, and his wife, Maria. Following lunch, the Prince and Princess paid a visit to the Parliament and later attended a reception for the Spanish community at the residence of the Spanish Ambassador in Lisbon.Filed under Spanish Royals
