April 30th, 2012
Earlier last week, Her Majesty Queen Sofia made a private family visit to Washington, D.C. to celebrate the 10th birthday of her grandson, Don Miguel Urdangarín.
His Excellency is the third son of Infanta Cristina of Spain, Duchess of Palma de Mallorca and Don Inaki Urdangarín, Duke Consort of Palma de Mallorca. The family are currently residing in Washington, DC, since 2009.
Don Miguel was born at Barcelona’s Teknon Clinic on April 30th, 2002 and he is currently tenth in the line of succession to the Spanish Throne. In May 2011, Don Miguel made his First Holy Communion at the Palace Chapel in the Zarzuela Palace.
The Queen last saw her grandchildren in November 2011 when she paid a private visit to Washington, DC to spend time with her younger daughter and grandchildren. Due to the scandal surrounding the Duke of Palma, the family did not spend the Christmas or Easter holidays in Spain and remained at their residence in Washington DC.Filed under Spanish Royals
