Don Felipe Juan Froilan Involved in Shooting Accident

His Excellency Don Felipe Juan Froilan de Marichalar has been taken to hospital in Madrid following a shooting accident where he was shot in the right foot.

Don Felipe was enjoying an Easter break with his father and younger sister, Doña Victoria Federica, in Soria. He is the eldest child of HRH Infanta Elena, Duchess of Lugo and Jaime de Marichalar. His Excellency is also the eldest grandchild of Their Majesties and is currently fifth in line to the Throne.

Don Felipe was firstly taken to a medical center in Soria, but is now currently recovering at the Chiron Clinic in Madrid. His injuries were described as minor, both of his parents were at the hospital and he was later paid a visit by his grandmother, Her Majesty Queen Sofia.

This incident may attract more unwelcome attention for the Spanish Royal Family as under Spanish Law, children under 14 are not permitted to use firearms.

   Very bad memories to resurrect. They’re lucky it was the foot, and not a serious injury at that.
