The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall continued their Jubilee tour of Scandinavia in Sweden last week, following their three-day visit to Norway.
Upon arrival at Arlanda Airport, the royals were greeted by Prince Carl Philip, who then accompanied Prince Charles and his wife to view some fighter jets located in one of the airport’s hangers. Prince Charles had the chance to sit in the cockpit of one of the JAS Gripens. It was then on to the Royal Palace of Stockholm to meet with Queen Silvia, before a visit to Frost House with the Queen and the Swedish Prime Minister, Mr Fredrik Reinfeldt.
The following day, and King Carl XVI Gustaf was finally on the scene, joining Prince Charles in visiting the Stockholm Resilience Centre. Meanwhile, Queen Silvia and the Duchess visited the British International Primary School, where they mingled and played with the young students.
A luncheon was held at the Royal Palace, attended by the entire Swedish Royal Family and marked the first event Crown Princess Victoria has attended since the birth of Princess Estelle one month ago. The visiting royals even got the chance to meet the newest Swedish Princess.
The day concluded with a visit to a preschool for the ladies, a church visit for the men, and a private tour of the Drottningholm Palace Theatre for all.
On March 24th, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla visited the Vasa Museum, where they viewed the centuries-old Vasa warship, before visiting the Saltå Mill in Järna. They were joined by King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, and got to taste some sourdough bread.
The Prince and the Duchess departed Sweden on Saturday afternoon, heading for Denmark – their final stop before returning home. They were greeted at Kastrup Airport by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary. The Crown Prince Couple hosted a private dinner for their guests in the evening. Yesterday, the couple were present a church service at the St Albans Anglican Church in Copenhagen, where they planted a tree to mark the visit and Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.
