Dutch State Visit to Luxembourg, Day Two
The second day of Queen Beatrix’s state visit to Luxembourg started with a visit to Belval, where she arrived, along with Grand Duke Henri, by train. Belval is a quarter of Esch-sur-Alzette, in the south-west of Luxembourg.
In Belval, the Queen visited the laboratory in the House of Biomedicine, part of the new University of Luxembourg. During the lunch offered by the Government of Luxembourg at the Chateau Bourglinster, the Queen met Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker.
In the afternoon, Queen Beatrix visited the SES Astra Headquarters at Chateau Betzdorf. Astra is a satellite operator. The Queen made a tour around the dish garden and satellite center, where she was told about the company’s projects. She signed the Golden Book and received a small satellite as a gift. Queen Beatrix was accompanied by Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.
In the evening, Queen Beatrix hosted a concert performed by the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century at the Cercle Cite. Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria-Theresa and Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume were present.
