Princess Mary Visits Holbæk for Heart Foundation
As patron of the Danish Heart Foundation, Crown Princess Mary today visited the Holbæk Hospital, east of Copenhagen in the municipality of Holbæk.
Princess Mary was given a tour of the hospital’s cardiac department, where she spoke with doctors, nurses and some patients who are currently in Holbæk Hospital for cardiac surgery. The tour was conducted by the cardiac department’s senior consultant, Tage Lysbo Svendsen.
Later, the Crown Princess awarded the “Elsk Hjertet/Love Heart” scholarship at Elværket Music House. Mary presented a grant of DKK8,000,000 from her Kronprinsesse Marys Hjertefond (Crown Princess Mary’s Heart Foundation) to Eva Prescott from Bispebjerg Hospital. The money is to go towards cardiac research.
During the ceremony, Danish musician Flemming Enevold performed several Frank Sinatra hits for the 200-strong audience.
Crown Princess Mary has been the patron of the Danish Heart Foundation since January 2005, when she took over the patronage from her father-in-law, Prince Henrik.Filed under Danish Royals
