Infanta Elena turns 48

On December 20th, Her Royal Highness Infanta Elena of Spain, the Duchess of Lugo celebrated her 48th birthday.

The eldest daughter of Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain was born in 1963 in Madrid. The Infanta was baptised at the Zarzuela Palace and given the names Elena María Isabel Dominica de Silos de Borbon y Grecia. Infante Alfonso de Orléans, Duke of Galliera and the King’s late mother, Princess Maria de las Mercedes, Countess of Barcelona, stood as her godparents.

The Infanta, who is currently fourth in line to the Spanish Throne, has two children from her marriage to Don Jaime de Marichalar, Froilan and Victoria Federica.
