Princess Margriet & Pieter van Vollenhoven in NYC
Princess Margriet and her husband, Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven, were in New York City last week, to attend the Peter Stuyvesant Ball on November 18th.
The ball, an annual event held by the Netherland-America Foundation (NAF), was held at Pier Sixty at the Chelsea Piers, along New York’s Hudson River. Princess Margriet and the Professor arrived around 19:00, the Princess looking wonderful in a navy blue evening gown and a sapphire tiara. Dinner was provided by the chefs from Hotel Okura Amsterdam, music by the Gerard Carelli Orchestra.
This year’s ball was the thirtieth edition held by the NAF, with 2011 also marking the 90th anniversary of the NAF’s creation in 1921. The NAF’s aim is to develop as many cultural, educational and scientific activities to promote the Dutch-American friendship.
Princess Margriet and the Professor are the co-patrons of the NAF.
