Queen Noor Opens International Arab Children Congress

Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein of Jordan, founder and chairperson of the board of trustees of the King Hussein Foundation, opened on November 13, 2011 the 31st International Arab Children Congress (IACC) at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. This is the first time that the IACC is celebrated outside Jordan.

The ceremony commenced with an opening address on behalf of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, delivered by Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, followed by a speech on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein delivered by Hana Shahin, Executive Director of the King Hussein Foundation.

Those in attendance were also treated to the presentation of an operetta entitled “Sustainability”, performed by over 100 Emirati students. This year, more than 150 children from more than 15 Arab and foreign countries participate in the Congress.

During this visit to Abu Dhabi, Queen Noor also attended on Sunday morning the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix, and on Friday afternoon she, accompanied by her youngest daughter, Princess Raiyah, attended a banquet in her honour hosted by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, at Al Bahr Palace.
