The couple’s first child, a son, was born at 22:40 local time on September 27th, in Madrid. The infant has been named and will be styled, His Royal Highness The Prince Giorgi Bagration Bagrationi. The press release stated that, “the birth of the young Prince has been a source of immense joy and happiness to the Royal Family.”

Prince David and Princess Anna were married in 2009, and come from the two branches of the Georgian Royal Family – the Bagration-Mukhranis and the Bagration-Gruzinskys. Their marriage united the two dynasties, bringing together the most senior male-line members of each side (Prince David as heir to the Bagration-Mukhranis, and Princess Anna the daughter of the most-senior Bagration-Gruzinsky). Their son will one day be the undisputed heir to the Georgian Throne, the joint heir to both branches of the dynasty.
