Felipe & Letizia attend 9/11 Memorial in Madrid
Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Asturias yesterday attended a 9/11 memorial in Madrid, to mark the tenth anniversary of the attacks in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania.
The memorial took place at the Juan Carlos I Park in Madrid, also present were the US Ambassador and his wife, as well as the Mayor of Madrid. Ten American oak trees were planted during the ceremony, one for every year since the attacks.
The US Ambassador gave a short speech and said, “It is an act of remembrance and a solemn occasion.” All present later observed a minutes silence in honour of all the victims of 9/11.
