Annual Gråsten Palace Photo Shoot
Earlier today, the Danish Royal Family participated in their annual photo session at their summer residence, Gråsten Palace, in Jutland. They were joined by members of the Berleburg family.
Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik were joined by their two sons, Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim; their daughters-in-law, Crown Princess Mary and Princess Marie; and their seven grandchildren: Princes Christian, Vincent, Nikolai, Felix and Henrik and Princesses Isabella and Josephine. Princess Benedikte of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg was there with her son, Prince Gustav, and his partner, Carina Axelssen. In a change from previous years, the photo session took place in the Palace gardens, instead of on the Palace steps in the courtyard. The children were very much the focus of the shoot, with Christian and Isabella enraptured by their younger siblings.
The families have been at Gråsten since last week (Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik arrived on July 25th, and were greeted by Princess Benedikte and the royal dachshunds), and have been seen several times out and about. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary have gone horseback riding on multiple occassions, before taking their two eldest children, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella, and Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg’s children, Count Richard and Countess Ingrid, to LEGO Land last Thursday. The four children appeared to have a blast at the amusement park, taking multiple turns on certain rides, which gave photographers a series of differing facial expressions. Queen Anne-Marie of Greece departed Gråsten prior to the photo session, after spending the week with her sisters – including watching the changing of the guard on the steps of the Palace.
Summers at Gråsten have been a Danish tradition since the time of Queen Ingrid, who loved the Palace, and worked extensively to restore it to its former glory. Click here to read more about the annual photo sessions at TRF, starting in 2003.Filed under Danish Royals, German Royals, Greek Royals
