Princess Beatrice Makes Film Debut in “The Young Victoria”
Sarah, Duchess of York and her two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie attend the premiere of The Young Victoria this week, a new film that explores the early romance and marriage of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
The Duchess of York is one of the producers of the film, which stars Emily Blunt as Victoria and Rupert Friend as Albert. Princess Beatrice makes her film debut in the movie in a cameo role as one of Victoria’s ladies-in-waiting. She is briefly seen during the film’s coronation scene. The film’s director, Jean-Marc Vallée, declared that Beatrice was “wonderful to direct – very patient during what can sometimes be a long and arduous process.”
The film’s screenwriter also has links to royalty — Oscar-winner Julian Fellowes is married to one of HRH Princess Michael of Kent’s former ladies-in-waiting, Emma Kitchener. Prince and Princess Michael live in an apartment in Kensington Palace, where Victoria also once lived.
The York princesses and their mum had to deal with rainy and windy conditions at the film premiere, which Beatrice’s boyfriend Dave Clark also attended. They celebrated into the night with excursions to Whisky Mist and China Tang after the premiere had finished.
The Young Victoria opened in British theatres on Friday; the film’s official website features a trailer clip.
