Yesterday, Queen Sofia attended an event in Madrid, where the Help Against Drug-Addiction Foundation (FAD) paid tribute to the Spanish mass media, thanking them for their support and collaboration through the years.

The FAD, of which Queen Sofia is Honorary President, is a non-profit private institution, whose principal mission is the prevention of drug consumption and its consequences.

The collaboration between the FAD and the media began in 1986 when the Fund and the Spanish Association of Advertising Agencies designed a project of anti-drugs campaigns for the social sensitising.

With this project, the FAD contacted with the media and proposed them an accomplishment of a campaign series which gratuitousness was an essential element. The Media accepted and thanks to this collaboration the FAD has launched more that 30 social anti-drugs campaigns.

In her short tribute speech Her Majesty said: “It is a great pleasure for me to join my voice to this act of tribute to the social communication media, which’s today so justly are tribute”.
