Crown Princess Maxima in Utrecht
On March 23, Princess Maxima attended the inaugural lecture by Professor Atul Kumar at the Academy Building of Utrecht University.
Mr. Kumar has been nominated by the Trustees of the Prince Claus Chair in Development and Equity by the Executive Board of Utrecht University to be a part of at the Prince Claus Chair. For the next two years, he will be engaged in climate research.
Atul Kumar (1977) is a fellow in Economic Analysis & Modelling at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi, India. He is researching the possibilities of global CO2 emissions to reduce by using renewable energy technologies. The scientist has eleven years of research experience in the areas of climate change, energy policy, energy technology and sustainable lifestyle in relation to climate change.
The Board of Trustees of the Prince Claus Chair is chaired by Princess Máxima. The chair is held for two years. Outstanding young scholars from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean or the Pacific are eligible. The appointment shall alternately at Utrecht University and the Institute of Social Studies. The two institutions aim of the Chair research and education in development cooperation, in line with the views and ideas of Prince Claus.
