Janadriya Festival Opens Doors

The 24th Janadriya Culture and Heritage Festival will be opened by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on Wednesday the 4th. For the first time in the history of the Janadriya Festival, families will be allowed to visit the cultural and heritage event organized annually by the National Guard.

At a press conference on Sunday, Dr.Abdulrahman Bin Subait Al-Subait, Undersecretary, National Guard and Executive Committee Chairman of the festival, said this year’s theme will be “The Cause of Islam and Dialogue of Cultures.” He went on saying the theme emphasizes the interest and attention paid to the issue of dialogue by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of King Abdullah.

The festivel is known for having a spectacular camel race at the start of the festivel.

This years guest of honor will be the participation of the Russian Federation which Prince General Miteb Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Assistant Vice President, National Guard for Military Affairs and Vice President of the Festival’s Supreme Committee welcomed. Prince Miteb went on saying “Russia’s participation will be an addition to the National Festival that represents cultures and heritages of friendly countries.” Turkey was the guest of honor at last year’s Janadriya Festival.

The Janadriya Village is located about 43 km north of Riyadh. The village will hold a number of differnet activities including art and culture, drama, shows, social presentation and various historical and heritage exhibitions.
